The Buy X get Y offer widget shows shoppers your deal before they add anything to the cart, for example "Buy 2 of this item, get FREE". It can appear as an offer block on product pages and as a small badge on product cards on your home and collection pages. You manage both from one page:

  • Product page: an offer block with one line for each matching Buy X get Y campaign.

  • Home & collection page: a badge on product cards that have an offer, for example "Buy 2, get 50% off".

The widget shows for both Minimum quantity and Minimum spent amount campaigns. It only displays the offer. Your Buy X get Y campaign still decides who qualifies and how the reward is delivered.

Before you start

  • Make sure the Discounty app embed is enabled on your active theme (see How to activate Discounty widgets on your Shopify store?).

  • Have an Active Buy X get Y campaign. The offer only appears on products that are part of the campaign's Buy (X) products.

Where to find the widget

  1. In the Discounty app, open Customization.

  2. Select the Buy X get Y offer card. It's listed with the other Buy X get Y widgets.

Step 1: Choose where the offer shows

Under Display widget on, turn on the places you want. Both toggles are off by default, so nothing shows on your storefront until you switch at least one on.

  • Product page — shows the offer block on product pages.

  • Home & collection page — shows the badge on product cards on your home and collection pages. When a product matches more than one campaign, the card shows the badge for the first matching campaign.

The other sections of the page are disabled until at least one toggle is on.

Step 2: Customize the texts

Under Text customization you can change the words shoppers see. Every field is required.

  • Product page text — the offer block. Default: "Buy {minimum} of this item, get {reward}".

  • Home & collection page badge text — the badge on product cards. Default: "Buy {minimum}, get {reward}".

  • Free reward text — what {reward} becomes when the reward is free. Default: "FREE".

  • Percentage reward text — what {reward} becomes when the reward is a percentage off. Default: "{discount}% off".

  • Amount reward text — what {reward} becomes when the reward is a fixed amount off. Default: "{amount} off".

  • "Eligible items" link text — the link shown in the offer block, and the title of the window it opens. Default: "Eligible items".

Use these tags to insert values from the campaign:

  • {minimum} (Minimum purchase) — the campaign's minimum: a quantity such as 2, or a spent amount in your store's currency such as $50.00. Texts you saved earlier with {quantity} keep working.

  • {reward} — the reward, written with the Free, Percentage or Amount reward text that matches the campaign.

  • {discount} — the percentage value, used in the Percentage reward text.

  • {amount} — the fixed amount, used in the Amount reward text.

Example: with the defaults, a campaign that gives 50% off when a shopper buys 2 shows "Buy 2 of this item, get 50% off" on the product page and "Buy 2, get 50% off" on the product card.

The offer shows the reward as text only. It doesn't change with what's in the shopper's cart.

The Eligible items link

Inside the offer block on the product page, shoppers see an Eligible items link. It opens a window listing every product the campaign applies to, with its image, title and a link to the product.

  • The link only appears when the campaign covers 2 or more products.

  • The list loads 100 products at a time. Select Load more to show the next batch.

  • If only some options of a product qualify, that product shows Eligible options followed by the matching variants.

To change the wording, edit "Eligible items" link text in the list above.

Step 3: Styles

Under Styles you can set:

  • Background color, Text color and Border color of the product page offer block.

  • Badge background color and Badge text color of the product card badge.

  • Border radius: how rounded the corners are (0 to 35 px, default 8 px).

Styles uses the same plan permission as the color settings of the Buy X get Y pop-up. If your plan doesn't include it, a lock icon appears next to Styles. The style fields are also disabled while both Display widget on toggles are off.

Step 4: Translations

If your store sells in more than one language, use the Translations section on the same page to add the six texts in each language. See How do I translate Discounty widgets for a multi-language store?.

Step 5: Preview and save

The preview on the right updates as you type. Use the Product page / Collection & home switch to check both views. Each section has a Reset to default option. When you're happy with the result, click Save to make your changes live.

If the offer doesn't appear

  • Check that the toggle for that placement (Product page or Home & collection page) is on.

  • Check that the campaign is an Active Buy X get Y campaign and that the product is in its Buy (X) products.

  • Check that the Discounty app embed is enabled on your active theme.

If everything checks out and the offer still doesn't show, your theme or page builder may need a manual adjustment. Contact support with your theme name.
