Questions merchants ask before they start
What does it cost?
The free plan is a plan rather than a trial (no card, no time limit), and it runs a single step on 3 campaigns. More than one step starts on the Essential plan, and so does the countdown timer. The collection-card badge is on the Discounty plan, switched on in Customization. The pricing page has the rest.
Is this the same as a volume discount, or tiered pricing?
A quantity discount is a discount that gets deeper as the shopper buys more of the same thing. You set the steps, for example two for 10% off, five for 15%. Volume discount, tiered pricing, quantity breaks and buy more save more all name the same thing. Discounty calls it a quantity discount campaign, and it is one feature however you say it.
Do my customers need a discount code?
No. It is a Shopify automatic discount, so the saving appears in the cart and at the checkout on its own. There is nothing for a shopper to type and nothing for you to hand out.
Where does the shopper see the tiers?
On the product page, in a table you can word yourself. The columns are Buy and Get, and each row is a range: 2 to 4, 5 to 7, 8 and up. The table shows while the Discounty app embed is on in your live theme; if you change themes, switch it on again.
Do different sizes of one product count together?
You choose. Mix of products counts any mix from the campaign. Same product, any variant counts one product in any size or colour, so two blue and two red of one T-shirt make 4. Same variants needs 4 of the exact same size and colour.
Can I run more than one step on the free plan?
No. The free plan runs a single step. The ladder starts on the Essential plan.
Can it run alongside my other discounts?
On the Discounty plan it can run on top of a Bulk price editor sale: tick each campaign in the other’s Campaign combinations. Without that, products already in the sale are left out of the newer campaign. It does not combine with a Cart goal campaign. That is one or the other. Putting it on the same cart line as a Buy X get Y or a discount code needs Shopify Plus as well as the Discounty or Ultimate plan.
Does it change the price on my products?
No. The product keeps its price and the discount is applied as the basket is built, so there is nothing to put back when the campaign ends.
Is there a ceiling?
Past your top step the discount stays where it is. A shopper who buys twenty gets the same depth as the one who bought your top step.
How many products can I run it on?
That is what the plans scale on. The free plan runs 3 campaigns across 10 live variants; paid plans go from 150 variants up to unlimited.
Can I change a campaign while it is running?
While it is live, only the end date and time can move. To change a step or anything else, deactivate it, edit, and activate it again. To add products, duplicate it.
Can I make the offer easier to notice?
Yes. Add a countdown that runs to the campaign’s end date and stops itself. Show a badge on the collection card with the deal or the lowest price your steps reach. On the Discounty plan, run it on top of a Bulk price editor sale by ticking each campaign in the other’s Campaign combinations.
