How do I use Discounty with Shopify Sidekick?
Ask Shopify Sidekick about your Discounty discounts and get recommendations on which campaign to set up — right from your Shopify admin.
Discounty works with Shopify Sidekick, the AI assistant built into your Shopify admin. You can ask Sidekick about your Discounty discounts in plain language, get recommendations on which Discounty campaign to set up, and have Sidekick open a new campaign form already filled in with the settings you described — all without opening the Discounty app first. Sidekick reads your Discounty data and helps you set discounts up faster; you stay in control of every change. Discounty also has its own AI assistant inside the app — see How do I use Lumos, the AI assistant in Discounty? for when to use which.
What you need
Plan: available on every Discounty plan.
Requirement: Shopify Sidekick must be available in your store. Sidekick is part of your Shopify admin, so whether you see it depends on Shopify, not on Discounty.
What you can ask Sidekick about your discounts
Open Sidekick from your Shopify admin and ask about your Discounty discounts the way you'd ask a teammate. Sidekick can answer questions such as:
Which discounts are running right now — your currently active campaigns.
The details of one discount — ask by name (for example, "tell me about my Summer Sale") and Sidekick returns its type, status, and schedule.
How a discount is performing — the orders and revenue a campaign has driven, plus its average order value. This works for every campaign type.
Discounts by status — what's scheduled, what's expired, or what's turned off.
Your best performers — a ranked list of your top discounts by revenue or by number of orders. If you ask for a specific period (for example, "this month"), Sidekick only uses that period to decide which campaigns are eligible to rank — the revenue and order totals shown are still each campaign's all-time numbers, not totals for that period.
Every answer includes a link straight into Discounty, so you can jump to the discount whenever you want to look closer.
Getting setup recommendations
You can also tell Sidekick what you're trying to achieve, and it will recommend the right Discounty campaign for the job and walk you through the setup steps. For example:
"I want free shipping on orders over $500" → Sidekick suggests a Shipping discount campaign.
"I want tiered pricing that gets cheaper the more someone buys" → Sidekick suggests a Quantity discount campaign.
"I want to run a sitewide sale with crossed-out prices" → Sidekick suggests a Bulk price editor campaign.
Sidekick recommends from the full set of Discounty campaign types — Bulk price editor, Quantity discount, Cart goal, Buy X Get Y, Shipping discount, and Advanced discount code.
Setting up a campaign with Sidekick
You can describe the discount you want in plain language, and Sidekick will open the matching Discounty create page already filled in — you only need to review and click Save. For example, tell Sidekick "set up 15% off all t-shirts" and Discounty opens the Bulk price editor create page pre-filled with that discount, ready for you to check. This works the same way for every Discounty campaign type. Nothing is saved until you click Save in Discounty.
Changing a saved campaign with Sidekick
On a campaign you've already saved, tell Sidekick what you'd like to change (for example, "extend my Summer Sale to the end of the month"). Discounty opens that campaign's edit page with the changes already filled in, so you can review them and click Save. Sidekick can also open the Activate or Deactivate confirmation for a campaign — the campaign only changes once you confirm.
Settings Sidekick leaves out
Sidekick leaves out any setting your Discounty plan doesn't include, and any setting the campaign's current status locks (for example, an Active campaign only accepts changes to its end date, countdown timers and auto-update). Sidekick tells you which settings it skipped and why.
Asking how Discounty works
You can also ask Sidekick how-to questions about Discounty — for example, how a campaign type works or what a setting does — and it answers from Discounty's help content.
What Sidekick does not do
It never saves changes on its own. Sidekick opens Discounty's create or edit page with your settings filled in, but nothing is saved until you review the details and click Save yourself.
It never activates or deactivates a campaign without your confirmation. Sidekick can open the Activate or Deactivate confirmation, and the campaign only changes once you confirm it.
It doesn't delete campaigns. To delete a campaign, open it in Discounty.
Sidekick, Lumos or an AI app?
Discounty works with three AI tools. Each one fits a different moment:
Tool | Where you use it | Best for |
|---|---|---|
Shopify Sidekick | Your Shopify admin | Questions that span your whole store (products, orders, customers, theme) as well as your Discounty discounts |
Lumos | Inside Discounty | Building and managing discounts: it fills in campaign and widget settings, and can activate, deactivate or delete a campaign after you confirm |
AI apps (Claude, ChatGPT and others) | The AI app you already use | Asking about your campaigns and their results next to your other work. Read-only: it can't change anything |
