Is there a limit on the number of campaigns I can create?

Campaign and variant limits for each Discounty plan, what happens when you downgrade, and Shopify's 25 automatic discount limit.

Yes. How many campaigns you can run depends on two things: the limits of your Discounty plan, and Shopify's limit of 25 active automatic discounts. Knowing both helps you plan a sale without a campaign getting blocked.

Your Discounty plan limits

Each plan sets two limits:

  • Created campaigns: how many campaigns you can have at the same time.

  • Active discounted variants: how many product variants can be discounted at the same time across your running campaigns.

The Discounty and Ultimate plans have the same features and differ only in these limits.

Where to check your usage

  • Home and Campaigns pages: the Current plan card shows a usage bar for Created campaigns and one for Active discounted variants. When you're getting close, it warns you, for example "You're close to your "Created campaigns" limit."

  • Plans page: your current plan card shows your usage as, for example, "3 / 10 Discount campaigns" and "8 / 150 Variants with live discount".

How the Created campaigns limit works

  • It counts the campaigns you have now, not every campaign you've ever created. It doesn't reset monthly, and it goes down when you delete a campaign.

  • Every campaign type counts the same way.

  • Deleting a campaign frees a slot. You can delete Scheduled, Expired and Blocked campaigns. To delete an Active campaign, deactivate it first. See Campaign statuses in Discounty.

  • When you reach the limit, the app shows "You've reached your "Created campaigns" limit, so you can't create any more campaigns." Upgrade or delete a campaign to create a new one.

How the Active discounted variants limit works

This is the limit you usually hit while building a campaign, not while creating one. If the products you select would take you over it, you can still save the campaign, but you can't run it until you free up capacity or upgrade. The campaign form shows a message that names the plan you need, for example:

⚠️ Note: "You've selected over your variant limit. You can save this campaign, but you'll need to upgrade to Essential plan to run it."

Why a campaign shows Blocked

A campaign is Blocked when it goes beyond what your current plan includes. The campaign page explains the reason, which is one of these:

  • It exceeds your Active discounted variants limit.

  • You've exceeded your Created campaigns limit.

  • Your plan doesn't include this campaign type. When you build one, the app asks you to upgrade or click Continue and save as draft. The campaign is saved but stays Blocked until you upgrade.

  • The campaign uses a feature your plan doesn't include.

After you upgrade to a plan that covers it, Discounty applies the campaign automatically. You can also edit the campaign to fit your current plan, or delete it.

What happens when you downgrade

Before you confirm a downgrade, the app lists the campaigns that would go over the new plan's limits and the features you would lose. After you downgrade, you have 1 hour to deactivate or edit campaigns that exceed your new plan's limits. After that, the extra campaigns are moved to Blocked automatically, starting with the most recently created ones. Their discounts stop applying, and Bulk price editor prices return to their original values.

Shopify's limit of 25 automatic discounts

Shopify allows up to 25 active automatic discounts at the same time. Some Discounty campaign types create an automatic discount in Shopify, so they count toward this limit:

Campaign type

Counts toward Shopify's 25?

Buy X get Y

With Automatic: yes, one automatic discount per campaign. With Discount code: no, it's a discount code

Shipping discount with Automatic discount

Yes, one automatic discount per campaign

Quantity discount and Cart goal

By default, all of them share one automatic discount. A campaign that uses customer segments or same-line stacking gets its own automatic discount and counts separately.

Shipping discount with Discount code

No, it's a discount code

Advanced discount code

No, it's a discount code

Bulk price editor

No, it changes product prices directly

Your other apps and your own Shopify automatic discounts count toward the same 25.

⚠️ Note: When your store already has 25 active automatic discounts, new Buy X get Y and automatic Shipping discount campaigns can't be created in Shopify until space is available. If you schedule one, make sure your store won't be over 25 at the time it goes live, or it won't be created.

Because Quantity discount and Cart goal campaigns share one automatic discount by default, you can run many of them without using up Shopify's limit. On the Ultimate plan, with unlimited campaigns, the number of these campaigns is limited only when they use customer segments or same-line stacking.

Tips to avoid hitting limits

  • Review your campaigns regularly and delete the expired ones you no longer need.

  • Check the Current plan card on the Home page before building a large campaign.

  • Upgrade your plan if you need more campaigns or variants.

  • Keep track of your Shopify automatic discounts when you use Buy X get Y or automatic Shipping discount campaigns.
